SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – February 3, 2017

Hi everyone,

What a crazy couple of weeks it has been! We’re having an incredible time in Australia, and have already enjoyed some big highlights – including performing at the Sydney Opera House for Australia Day and stopping by to chat with some of our favourite radio and TV hosts. We even took on a rap battle challenge – and won! 😎

Nova 96.9’s Fitzy and Wippa v Human Nature: ‘Rap Up of The Week’

The Ultimate Jukebox tour has just kicked off, with a sold-out performance in Geelong and tonight in Melbourne.

We’re very excited to announce that our shows in Brisbane and the Gold Coast are now sold out too, and there’s only a handful of tickets left to our remaining shows. We can’t wait to hit the stage for our second show in Melbourne (with good seats available), before heading to Hobart, Adelaide, Newcastle, Sydney and Perth.

If you haven’t had a chance to purchase your tickets to the remaining shows on The Ultimate Jukebox Tour, don’t miss out! This brand new two-hour show was specifically curated for our Australian fans, and is bigger, bolder and jam-packed with all the songs that have defined and made Human Nature who we are as performers.

It’s a completely different show, and unlike anything we’ve done before, so we want you to be there!

After The Ultimate Jukebox Tour wraps up, we’ll be heading straight back to The Venetian Las Vegas for our Jukebox shows. The first performance will be on Friday February 24, and the one-year anniversary of the Jukebox show is fast approaching! We already have some special things planned to mark the occasion, so keep your eyes peeled.

In the meantime, head to our social media pages to come along on tour with us as we travel right across Australia (and show you all of the backstage fun too)!

Look forward to seeing you at a show soon,

Toby, Phil, Andrew and Mike

Countdown to Christmas, with an early gift for Andrew!

LAS VEGAS, NV – December 8, 2016

Hi everyone! Wow – it’s been quite a momentous few weeks. So much to report! Our HN “family” just got a little bigger with the addition of Andrew’s new baby (we’re all so excited for him!) so that means finally all four of us are members of the “Dad Club”.

The Jukebox show with Special Holiday Performances started last week at The Venetian, filled with a selection of our favorite Christmas songs. We love Christmas time and really enjoy performing these songs. It’s always so much fun.

For the last couple of years we have put on a full Christmas show here in Vegas, but this year with everything else filling our plates we have decided to keep our regular show and add some “Christmas cheer” in the set instead. We’re even taking our show to the east coast, with two holiday performances at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City this Friday & Saturday night – we can’t wait to see our East Coast fans who always make a performance so very special!

We’re really counting down the days until our Australian tour now – only eight weeks until the first show! Lots of prep and rehearsal to do before then – this is our biggest tour in a long time so we want to make it really special for all of you. We are bringing all seven members of our US band with us too!

Not only that, we’re bringing the incredibly talented Aric Yegudkin and Masha Belash from Dancing With The Stars with us too! They are superstars in the dancing world and we can’t wait to have them on our stage in Australia. This Ultimate Jukebox show is especially created for our awesome Australian fans. We’re performing for two hours and are including so many of the songs you have loved over our career and some fresh new ones too. We also have some really fun VIP soundcheck and meet & greet packages as something extra special for fans at all the shows – we would love to see you at these before we hit the stage in your city!

I hope you guys will forgive my more serious choice of YouTube video for this month. I’m sure you all are aware that the US went ahead and elected itself a new president, and it seems like everyone has lost their minds a little bit about the choice.

Sure it’s a big shock, and it may not have been a particularly wise choice, but I wanted you all to watch a speech about it by a man who exudes total class and commands respect with everything he does and says. I think it will calm everybody’s fears just a little and keep us all a bit more positive about the future…

Thanks everybody – looking forward to seeing you all at a show soon!

x Phil

What a year 2016 has been!

Well 2016 is almost over – what a year hey?! For me personally it has been one of the greatest years of my life with the preparation and arrival of Heather and my little angel Violette – what a true blessing she has been.

Human Nature has had an enormous year too with the new show Jukebox launching in Las Vegas and then our first #1 in 10 years with “Gimme Some Lovin’ – Jukebox Vol. II” back home in Australia in July – all amazing stuff.

Christmas was a real highlight, and gave us a chance to change up the show to celebrate with a whole bunch of our fans here in Vegas for the holidays. We had a blast singing some of our all-time favorite songs again and dusting off some Christmas dance steps – you can’t beat the Rudolph antler step – thanks Shannon (our choreographer)! 😄

It does honestly seem crazy how many amazing iconic stars have left us through the year though and most recently, the loss of George Michael was personally a real sadness to me. I have always loved George as a singer and songwriter and have to say he has been one of major influences on me as a pop artist. You can hear a little bit of “Faith” in the song “Telling Everybody” Mike and I wrote with our good buddy Paul Begaud for our very first album. He was a true blend of Pop and Soul and always made everything he did sound like it was meant just for him. Our version of “Last Christmas” has really stayed with us all our career and recently we sang it as a tribute in the Human Jukebox section of our show to send our respect his way. His music will be part of my personal Jukebox forever.

I have to say my greatest moment of 2016 though happened on November 6 at 12:36pm, when my incredibly gorgeous wife Heather gave birth to our heaven-sent angel Violette Faith Tierney. I have always been happy being the self-proclaimed “cool and crazy” Uncle but becoming a Dad is truly the greatest gift God could give me in this life. She is so precious and life will never be the same – only better.

Baby V is coming on the road for the first time in Feb which brings me to something I can’t wait for 2017 to deliver, which is our tour! I can’t wait to perform together with the guys for you all across the country on what we are calling our Ultimate Jukebox Tour. We are pumped to be bringing our full band direct from Vegas to play for you all too – many of whom have never set foot in Oz before so it’s going to be a blast!

Expect some pop-tastic flashbacks, great singing, great moves and just a whole bunch of great music – plus we are welcoming back Dancing With The Stars superstars Masha and Aric as our dancers again to bring a little romantic flare to the Jukebox.

I think since doing our 60 Minutes interview earlier in the year with good mate Karl Stefanovic, even more Aussies have been coming to hear us sing in the Sands Showroom at The Venetian – nothing beats seeing our fellow countrymen look proud to watch us bring that stage to life – it’s the best compliment we could ever get. My favourite fan gift for the year could be the personalised jar of Vegemite – gotta love the taste of home.

I also got to spend a day in NYC over Christmas this year after we returned to The Borgata in Atlantic City to give them their first taste of Jukebox on the East Coast. NYC has always been my most-loved city in the world and with the snow flurries and Christmas Tree in The Rockefeller Center this year, it lived up to all its glory. I heart NY.

One of the funniest YouTube clips I’ve seen recently was Conan O’Brien interviewing Kevin Hart in the gym — check it out…very funny stuff! I also loved Bruno Mars in James Cordon’s Carpool Karaoke (what a fantastic idea that is for interviews) – it has really become a defining idea for him as a host and media personality.

Well, signing off for now, but can’t wait for another amazing year to roll around and I pray you all have a safe and amazing 2017. See you for The Ultimate Jukebox shows in February in Australia!

Best always,
Andrew

JUKEBOX is an infectious, 90-minute, nonstop extravaganza of energy as the band belts out chart toppers with a Tyson knockout punch – it’s a winner the entire way,” said the legendary Robin Leach.  He has as also sung the praises of this talented quartet’s Christmas delivery: “The [Human Nature] show is full of tidings of great joy and songs of wondrous delight, and it’s all a truly beautiful and entertaining musical night.”

Human Nature’s Toby Allen’s Coming Out Party: The Singer Opens Up About His Professional and Personal Life

Posted by on Thursday, April 30th, 2015

2015-04-21-1429646978-509275-TobyHumanNature.jpeg

In the 25 years that Human Nature, Australia’s leading pop vocal group, have been together they’ve had five No. 1 albums, sold millions of records around the world and collected close to two dozen Top 40 hits. Since 2009 their dazzling Motown tribute show presented by Smokey Robinson has delighted audiences in Las Vegas.

While much has been written about the group, little is known about the individuals who make up the soulful harmonies. In one of his first American, solo interviews, Toby Allen is opening up about his sexuality and his family. Aside from Human Nature, Allen has performed in London as the emcee in Cabaret and in Australia as Kenickie in Grease. Still, like the others in Human Nature, he always returns to the group. Although he likes to tease the key to their success is that they don’t sleep together, in truth he said it’s their bond that has kept them together all of these years.

“We were just friends in high school and doing musical things. We were all mates before we began singing together. Then we found something we love doing together, and we still love doing it today,” Allen said.

Having once worked as a perfume salesman, Allen said if singing hadn’t worked out he was studying to become a geologist. As a kid he enjoyed playing soccer and tennis and riding horses. Now as the father of two-year-old twins, Harvey and Roxanne with husband, actor Darren Weller, Allen is not only keeping active in Las Vegas, but is embarking on an Australian tour with Human Nature to celebrate their new album,Jukebox, and their 25th anniversary.

2015-04-21-1429647191-9324531-HumanNature.jpg

Over the years you have traveled all over the world. Do you recall your first trip to the U.S.?

I remember in ’91 we were on our way to London, and on the way back we stopped at Disneyland. It was exciting. We grew up in Australia hearing so much about the U.S. and were exposed to the culture through TV and movies. We actually went to a ballgame on an early trip to the U.S., as well. I remember seeing a Lakers game once. We don’t have that scale or style of sport in Australia.

For those who aren’t familiar with you or Human Nature, how would you describe yourself?

I can sometimes come across as a little shy. Once I get to know people I get much more gregarious. I might be more reserved on stage than I am in social situations.

What’s it like being a father?

It’s awesome! Exhausting. Fun. It’s everything and better than anything I ever thought it would be.

Did you always know you wanted to be a father?

I had an inkling that I would be. I didn’t know how it would happen or what I’d have to go through to do it.

When you met Darren at a charity tennis game in Sydney in 2005, was it love at first sight?

It felt like it. He introduced himself, and there was definitely a connection. Then the following days and weeks after we discovered more about each other. It was really obvious that there was something special there. It was a thrill.

You told New Idea magazine in 2013: “I think a lot of people knew I was gay, but it never became an issue, which was really lovely. I haven’t hidden away from it, but I haven’t searched out that publicity either.” Was there ever any hesitation in the group for you coming out?

No, not at all. Initially we just wanted people to focus on our music. After a while all of the guys were incredibly supportive and sexuality was a non issue.

Was it always easy for you to be open with your sexuality or was it a struggle?

There are so many different situations and everyone has their own struggles, I guess. I was at a boarding school and being into music, I was sort of a natural target. At the same time I was discovering more about myself, so I really wasn’t out at school. In fact, it wasn’t until I went to university and was exposed to other ways of life that I felt more secure to go out and be more myself. Luckily I had a loving family who loved me for who I was, so it was sort of a non issue. Most people said they knew anyway, which I am sure happens a lot. I didn’t struggle so much. Maybe when I was in school, but there wasn’t much of a struggle after that. I feel bad for people who do struggle, and I hope they can find someone who can be a support.

I want to ask you a few quick questions so people can get to know you better. What is one thing you can’t travel without?

Now it’s my children. I’m notorious for being a gadget buff, so I love my Gameboy and that sort of stuff. Also, my phone and iPad.

What is one CD you can’t live without?

That is a tough question. Prince’s The Gold Experience. That’s probably my favorite.

Who was your first celebrity crush?

Margo Kidder. She was Lois Lane in the Superman film. I was a young, young kid, and I remember having a crush on her.

Are you and Darren planning on having more children?

We’ve thrown the idea around. Our relationship with our surrogate was happy. She comes to Vegas, and we visit her. Now when I think about it, I just feel tired. Having twins is a whole other ballgame. We are so blessed to have a boy and a girl. There is still time, though. There are still embryos there. Right now we’re probably just going to enjoy what we got.

Other than your children, what are you the most proud of?

The fact that we [Human Nature] are still together doing what we love. There are not many groups that manage to survive that long.

HUMAN NATURE’S ‘THE JUKEBOX TOUR – A 25th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION’

Posted by on Tuesday, April 21st, 2015

cover_final working02

Human Nature was recently in Australia for ‘The Jukebox Tour – a 25th Anniversary Celebration’ which kicked off in Melbourne on April 23rd. With the release of the platinum accredited JUKEBOX in October last year, which has surpassed 100,000 units of sales, Human Nature’s 11th studio album in their 20 year recording history with Sony Music, 2015 marks the 25 years of Human Nature together as a band.
In honour of this incredible milestone, we could bore you with the number of early morning calls, the odd missed alarm, the number of both domestic & international flights taken, the amount of sound checks, phone interviews, promo schedules the guys have undertaken throughout their career, or even listing all the Australian venues they have played. Instead, we thought we would share with you these incredible feats –

3000 Shows
40 Three-piece custom made Tuxedos
60 Black Bow-ties (only 2-3 missing without a trace – all Andrews)

25 Years

‘The Jukebox Tour – A 25th Anniversary Celebration’ commemorated 25 successful years since the band was founded, with the iconic group touring the country in April and May 2015.
JUKEBOX was produced by David Pierce (Michael Buble) with fellow Canadian music man Bob Rock (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Michael Buble) on board as Executive Producer. A roll-call of elite musicians recorded their parts for JUKEBOX. Indeed, members of Buble’s horn section deliver the goods on seven tracks, including ‘Wonderful World’, ‘End Of Days’, ‘Runaround Sue’ and ‘Good Lovin’. Double bass maestro, Chuck Berghofer added his genius to ‘Stand by Me’, ‘Unchained Melody’, ‘Runaround Sue’, ‘I Only Have Eyes For You’ and ‘Under The Boardwalk’.
JUKEBOX was recorded in L.A., Calgary, Toronto and in Human Nature’s adopted home of Las Vegas.
Since signing with Sony Music Australia in 1994, Human Nature have enjoyed five No. 1 albums in Australia. All told, they’ve achieved 24 platinum awards, 18 top 40 hits and five top 10 hits worldwide. In 2005, Human Nature released the five-time platinum album REACH OUT – THE MOTOWN RECORD, a collection of Motown hits. It went on to win the ARIA Award for the highest-selling Australian album of the year, and it reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Heat Seekers chart.
